About Shruti
Shruti Parthasarathy is a writer, photographer, filmmaker and low waste practitioner, from Bangalore, India.
Her passion for stories rooted in reality compels her to create powerful narratives. As a writer she has helmed projects like ‘Apaar’, ‘Hello Guyzzz’, ‘Yellow’, and ‘Chori Waali Kahaani’ that amplify representation of the LGBTQIA+ community, women, children and elderly persons in films. Her eyes shine at the mention of documentaries.
As an independent filmmaker she champions a sustainable filmmaking approach being mindful of the waste a film production can generate. Her entrepreneurial journey began with ReRooted to bring together all her passions under one roof. She creates personalized seed paper products (like postcards, greetings, bookmarks) featuring her own photography, promoting sustainable alternatives and the joy of slow & handwritten communication. She enjoys facilitating and sharing her own experiences through workshops and individual sessions.
Sometimes, you may find her on the other side of the camera - as a podcast host, or as a spoken word artist. When not consuming or creating stories - she is busy being a cat mom and/or dreaming of a more equitable and compassionate world!
She is currently directing a personal documentary, commissioned by Public Service Broadcasting Trust, on her father and brother that observes and raises questions about masculinity in modern day India.
